Green Ranger 2011 Concept Art

Me and a buddy of mine were catching up and somehow Power Rangers came up in our conversation of the "good ol days" when we were kids. Of course, we both agreed, the coolest of any of the Rangers past,present AND future was the Green Ranger of the original MMPR run in the mid 90's.

When we decided to check out fanart online, we noticed one thing about all the artwork out there that tried to update his look for the modern era.

There really wasnt any.

Sure I've seen some with armor like the batsuit in TDK, and a bunch with massive Ultra Super Saiyan muscles, but not many that tried to tinker with the look.

So I opted to update the look myself. Now right off the bat, I avoided trying to alter or change anything iconic. His Dragon Shield and Helmet are virtually unchanged, and his gloves and boots have very small additions, in added padding in just a couple spots.

The majority of the changes lie in the suit itself. I drew alot of inspiration from Samus Aran's Zero suit, seeing as it functioned alot like Sentai/Ranger suits in providing protection with minimal hindrance to acrobatics and movement. I also took in cues from the hero costumes worn in various live action Marvel movies - especially the flight suit/uniforms worn in the upcoming X-men First Class. I liked how adding pronounced seams along the edges of color boundaries on the suit gave the illusion of added protection and streamlined the look.

You'll also note that I used two very different shades of green for the majority of the suit. My goal was to add a tad bit more maturity to the look with the very dark green, while staying true to the series by maintaining the lighter green from canon.
