New DMC - Vergil Concept by Jarein New DMC - Vergil Concept by Jarein
The evolution of the Devil May Cry reboot has been striking.

I remember a couple years ago, when the first trailer premiered, the public outrage was staggering. Nothing about the new Dante in that trailer was familiar, and every fan of the series made sure the devs knew how pissed they were about it.

Fast forward to now, and my god, I and about a million other former haters are stoked about his game now. Its amazing how dropping 50 pounds of emo and gaining 100 pounds of cockiness can remind us fans that this guy in the black hair is supposed to be Dante.

Now we all know what this new Dante looks like in this reboot, but what about Vergil? Well, heres my take on it.

Now unlike my previous Vergil fanart, this one is strictly designed to fit into this new DMC aesthetic of Britty-streetpunk-Guy Ritchie-ness. Since Vergil is always portrayed as more conservatively dressed, I opted to keep him wearing more suede, leather and khaki, with a black turtleneck for extra classiness. Also keeping with the more toned down usage of characteristic colors (the red of Dante's clothes are very minor), I used Vergils distinct tealish-blue for the inset color of his calfskin-leather coat (almost an inversion of the colors used in the original Vergil's coat).

As for more minor features, I went in a different direction with his hair. Vergil has always come across as a professional, so I skipped away from the punkish spiked hair, and gave this version a closed-cropped Caesar-haircut. To me, it seemed more appropriate for the realistic setting this new DMC game is set to take place.

So yea, there it is, my official blessing for this new DMC game. So far, you proved me wrong Ninja Theory, and I'm glad you did. Now we'll have to see if your game holds up to playtests.....

hmm if dante gets to look like a hobo on crack shouldn't Vergil? lolz then again I think Vergil cares more about his apperance than our lovable cocky basterd. xD

This Vergil reminds me a whole lot of Sir Henry Motherfucker from No More Heroes.

Very cool, love that you think that he will show up in the reboot. Hope he does.

Hey man thanks alot for all the positive feedback on a number of my projects. I'd dig it if he does show up in the new game, but I highly doubt it. Its one of those trump cards normally saved for a hyped sequel, or a buyable DLC. Gotta love these new business models in game companies :)

Something tells me that Vergil IS in the game, now this is just a theory but i think it could be that masked person from the new trailer, just because at one point when he turns his head you can make out whit hair behind the mask, or he could be bald, but it does look like white hair too me.

PS glad someone finally realized he is based off British punk not emo, despite what all the haters say. that is why he has a union jack on his arm, as a reference to punk culture where people used to have union jacks on T shirts and stuff.

Well some people are just ignorant when it comes to the underground scene. The term emo has become more of a generic moniker for everything people dont understand about the punk world, so its become pretty predictable.

I really do hope Vergil is at least mentioned in this game. So far, theyve mentioned Sparda and Eva, so hes the last piece of the puzzle for the family. We'll have to wait n see.
